Motorola One Fusion + Review

Because of the increasing competition in the market, the company has made some changes in the design and software of One Fusion +. Will these changes help the company gain a foothold in this segment? We have tested the Motorola Fusion + to see if it is a review.

Motorola One Fusion + has recently been launched in India, priced at Rs 16,999. It ventures into the most competitive segment of the market. Motorola has been launching one smartphone after another for some time. First Motorola Edge +, then Motorola G8 Power Lite and now the company has launched this new smartphone. Because of the increasing competition in the market, the company has made some changes in the design and software of One Fusion +. Will these changes help the company gain a foothold in this segment? We have tested the Motorola Fusion + to see if it is a review.

Motorola One Fusion + design

The Motorola One Fusion + Sub is slightly different from some recent smartphones in the Rs 20,000 range. Its display size is 6.5 inches and it is not easy to use with one hand. What I liked is that there is no noch or hole-punch for the front camera. The selfie camera is fitted in a pop-up module, which is now rarely seen in smartphones coming around this price.

I found the Motorola One Fusion + a bit thick. Its thickness is 9.6 millimeters and its weight is also slightly higher i.e. 210 grams. You will definitely feel the weight when holding it in your hand. Thankfully the sides of the smartphone are curved, making it somewhat comfortable when held for long periods. Motorola has fitted all the buttons on the right side and left the left side completely empty. The power and volume buttons are easy to access and there is also a fourth button, which is the Google Assistant button.

Quad rear camera setup is provided in the back, next to which flash is included. It has a fingerprint scanner at the back, which is easy to reach and has a popular Batwing logo from Motorola. Now, most brands offer fingerprint scanners in the power button instead of the back in their phones, yet I like having a fingerprint sensor in the back, as it is convenient to use.

Motorola has given a 5,000mAh battery in it, which is also the biggest reason for this phone to be heavy and thick. One Fusion + comes with fast charging support and the company also offers an 18W turbocharger in its box. The smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom with a USB Type-C port and speakers. This single speaker is quite good for small rooms.

 

Motorola One Fusion + specifications and software

The Motorola One Fusion + comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor in India, while the international model comes equipped with a slightly less powerful Snapdragon 730 chipset. Motorola One Fusion + has been launched in only 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variants. Motorola has priced it at Rs 16,999. Yes, the Motorola One Fusion + display does not have a high refresh rate, as we are seeing today in other smartphones coming around this price, but it doesn't really prove to be a deal-breaker. I did not feel the difference of not having this feature in seeing the phone from the front and running it.

The display is really crisp. It is an IPS LCD panel that comes with HDR10 support and has three color modes to choose from. There is no protective glass in it, but Motorola says that it has given anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch coating. Nevertheless, we would advise you to be careful.

Motorola sells the Fusion + in two colors, Twilight Blue and Moonlight White. We had its blue variant, I would personally choose the all-white option as it is slightly different from the rest of the phones available in the market. One Fusion + has dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac support. The storage is expandable but has a hybrid dual-sim slot.

The thing I liked most about the Motorola One Fusion + is that it runs on an almost stock-feeling Android 10 operating system with some useful additional features. At the time of writing the review, it was running on the April Security Patch. Motorola One Fusion + is not part of the Android One program and I can only hope that the company gives it timely software updates for the coming few years.

Moto Actions gestures, such as 'double-chop' to turn on the flash and a 'double-crank' for opening the camera, are present in it. This phone also has a Moto Display feature that prevents the phone from going into standby while viewing the screen. The peak display gives you the option to interact with notifications even when the screen is locked. This feature makes up for the lack of notification LEDs on the phone to a great extent.

Based on Android 10, this My UX Skin is largely a stock UI, but the good thing is that you get the option to change the icon, system font, color and layout of the icon, etc. The Motorola One Fusion + comes preinstalled with some Google apps. While reviewing this phone, I did not get a single spammy notification on this device. Other smartphone company notes.

 

Motorola One Fusion + performance

Motorola One Fusion +'s rear-mounted fingerprint scanner instantly unlocks the smartphone. Because Google removed the Face Unlock feature from the stock Android 10, the Motorola One Fusion + does not have this feature. We did not feel the lack of it much, because the pop-up camera is a bit slow to come up anyway.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset pits this phone against Poco X2, Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. I did not feel any kind of lag while using it and the smartphone multitasked comfortably. It is also good enough to handle day to day tasks as well as gaming.

Motorola One Fusion + can also handle gaming comfortably. PUBG Mobile defaults to the graphics set in HD and high-preset. I played the game in these settings without any problems for 20 minutes, after which the smartphone warmed up to almost nothing. After playing so much, the phone battery dropped by 5 percent, which is acceptable.

Motorola One Fusion + lasted one and a half days easily on one charge. It managed to run for 15 hours, 45 minutes in our HD video loop test. Charging via an 18W turbocharger is relatively fast, but we have seen faster charging in competitors. The phone charged 32 percent in 30 minutes and 60 percent in one hour. It took more than two hours to do it 100 percent.

 

Motorola One Fusion + cameras

Motorola has given quad rear camera setup in One Fusion +. It includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor with F / 1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with F / 2.2 aperture, a 5-megapixel macro lens with F / 2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front has a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. I found that the camera app is very simple and easy to use. Its Artificial Intelligence feature also works well. If you are shooting in low light it will suggest night mode and if you are taking a close up picture of an object then it suggests a macro camera.

I found that Motorola Fusion + was quick to set focus. In broad daylight, it took good pictures with enough detail. It captured even distant subjects well. The phone automatically enables HDR to take good shots in the light.

The low-light camera performance is average and the Motorola One Fusion + leaves the details in low light. The photos look a little grainy when zoomed in. Switching to night mode eliminates most of these problems immediately. Although with Night Mode, I had to keep the phone steady for a while, with Night Mode the photos were very bright and the details improved as well.

The selfie taken with the Motorola One Fusion + had good details. You can also enable portrait mode for selfie and it had good edge detection. Quality deteriorates in low light, but the selfie camera also supports night mode, which helps to recover photos to some extent.

 

Verdict

Talking about the past few times, I have reviewed many budget smartphones, but in the true sense, I have enjoyed the most review of the Motorola One Fusion +. Its main highlight is its clean, bloatware-free near-stock Android software, which provides a great user experience. Moto Actions act as a temper in the experience and make the experience even better. The display lacks a high refresh rate, but the display is bright and has good viewing angles. Its fast speaker enhances the video viewing experience.

I expect Motorola to keep updating the software of this phone over time to create a competitive edge. Motorola has set the price right according to the specifications of One Fusion +, making it very easy for me to recommend it.
